Design for a Difference 2025

1747724650636

June 2025, Qld showroom and Indigenous partner Bunin hosted a ‘Design for a Difference’ event, where we challenged designers and clients to decorate a blank stool inspired by their favourite children’s book.

The theme was a nod to the event’s beneficiary, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, who have supplied over 800,000 books to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in remote communities.

Congratulations to our three winners, as judged by Riki and Diana from WeAre27 Creative:

1st Place: Marchese Partners | Life3A – The Very Hungry Caterpillar (a classic interpretation with the caterpillar eating the strawberry and picnic blanket stool legs)

2nd Place: Phillip Smith Cornwell – The Very Hungry Caterpillar (channelling a “less is more” mindset, using material available and not taking additional resources from the land)

3rd Place: James Cubitt Architects – Brindlebat (beautifully represented the colours of Australia on the stool)

Alongside witnessing the creativity, teamwork and laughter in the room, we are overjoyed to have raised $1,350 for the Foundation. A big thank you to those who joined us and donated – Base Design and Construct Group, Marchese Partners | Life3A, ThomsonAdsett, Phillip Smith Cornwell, O’Neill Architecture and James Cubitt Architects.
